Primary Developer of EFT
Dr. Sue Johnson pioneered the study of relationships, showing how the bonds of love work and how they can be repaired through psychotherapy. Over 30 years ago, Sue developed Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), now recognized as the gold standard for helping couples reconnect and grow. Through extensive research, Dr. Johnson and her team demonstrated the effectiveness of EFT for couples (EFCT), and further expanded the model to more formally include Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals (EFIT) and families (EFFT).
Sue’s work earned her many awards, including the “Psychologist of the Year” title from the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Order of Canada for her global impact on psychotherapy.

Dr. Johnson founded the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), which supports therapists worldwide in learning, practicing, and researching EFT.

Hold Me Tight® Program
The Hold Me Tight® Program brings these principles to couples worldwide, through in-person workshops and a fully interactive online program.
